What is Glutathione?

Antioxidant tripeptide your body already makes.

Used for skin brightening and antioxidant support.

No FDA-approved injectable glutathione medicine.

How Glutathione works

Redox recycling

Neutralizes reactive oxygen, then is recycled.

Detox pathways

Helps liver reactions that clear compounds.

Poor oral uptake

One 3 g oral dose barely raised blood levels (1992).

Long oral use

Six months of capsules did raise levels (2015).

What Glutathione is studied for

PeopleBlood glutathione

1,000 mg/day for 6 months raised levels 30-35%.

PeopleSkin lightening

500 mg/day for 4 weeks lowered melanin at 2 of 6 sites.

PeopleImmune cells

NK cell activity more than doubled at 3 months on 1,000 mg.

PeopleParkinson's, IV

1,400 mg three times weekly for 4 weeks (21 people).

PeopleParkinson's, nasal

100 or 200 mg three times daily for 3 months.

Glutathione dosing protocol

+30-35%red cells, plasma and lymphocytes at 1,000 mg/day
+17%blood at 250 mg/day
0trials showing better aging outcomes
